Shell Cordovan has been prized for centuries for its beautiful lustre finish, its strength and suppleness. There are only a few tanneries in the world that can produce this leather as it takes skill and patience. To qualify as shell cordovan, it must come from the rump or posterior of a horse. It's treated and finished by hand and the vegetable tanning process takes 6 months. Our cordovan is sourced from Joseph Clayton & Sons, a centuries old tannery based in Chesterfield in the UK. The two colours that we have chosen to stock are two of the best for Molequin straps, whiskey tan and chocolate brown. The straps are fully lined and come on a beautiful brushed swiss buckle. The length of each half of the strap is 11.5cms and 7.5cms without the buckle.
